Welcome to Davis Dyslexia in Victoria.  I am Sally Beulke, a teacher with over 25 years experience. I have also had a very personal involvement with Dyslexia for more than 20 years.  In 1986 my daughter Tegan was diagnosed with Dyslexia, she was 7 years old. My journey through the Dyslexic maze began then.

I immediately completed another degree ( B.Ed.- specializing in Literacy ) to enhance my ability to navigate through the options and programs within the education system.  For more than a decade Tegan and I worked our way through every available program and treatment recommended for Dyslexic people. We endeavored to eliminate the confusion that language symbols caused for her. Tegan’s obviously high intelligence was not being reflected in her text based school work. She left school early as her entire school experience had been extremely negative.

I had by that time directed my teaching career toward the adult sector, I worked in Language and Literacy Program Development and Management. This allowed me to keep looking for new research and methods available to help Dyslexic individuals.

I was at a Literacy conference at Melbourne University in 1999, when I discovered Ron Davis’ book, “The Gift of Dyslexia”. After reading this totally new approach to helping Dyslexic people, I was determined Tegan would do a Davis Dyslexia Correction Program. In Australia in 1999 there weren’t any licensed Davis facilitators. Tegan was 19 years old when she had to go to America to do her Davis program.

Tegan’s program results were so extraordinary and the change in her so powerful, that I decided to undertake the Davis Facilitator Training Certification. I felt that Dyslexic Australians should be able to experience the Davis method at home. I commenced my training with Ron Davis in San Francisco in 2000 and have been working exclusively with the Davis Dyslexia Correction Program since becoming licensed.
